This topic includes information related to storage assemblies installed during construction.  Storage assemblies are used for general storage within a facility.  Storage systems permanently installed or movable by hand or motorized controls.  Assemblies are manufactured from metal, wood or plastic materials.

Exterior Sun Control Devices

This topic includes information related to exterior sun control devices installed during construction.  Exterior sun control devices are installed on the exterior of a building, around openings, to help control heat and brightness caused by the sun from negatively affecting interior spaces in a building.  Devices are installed in fixed positions or are movable by hand or a motor.  In addition to controlling the thermal affects of the sun, exterior sun control devices also provide privacy, insulate the interior and protect against damage that could be caused by storms.

This topic includes information related to awnings installed during construction.  Awnings are overhangs installed on the exterior of a building over openings.  They are commonly produced from canvas in fixed or movable assemblies.  Awnings provide protection from the elements, such as sun, rain, snow and hail from negatively affecting an interior space or damaging building components.

This topic includes information related to exterior clocks installed during construction.  Exterior clocks are devices that tell time in public settings.  They are commonly installed on posts, towers and buildings.  Dial markers, hands and face are available in a variety of styles with several options.

Window Wells

This topic includes information related to window wells installed during construction.  Window wells provide light to basement, as well as a means of egress from below grade living spaces.  Window wells are manufactured from wood, plastic and metal materials.  They may incorporate an overhead cover to prevent the well from being a fall hazard on the exterior of a building.

Accessories and appurtenances include, lights, finials and rope, which is used to secure and raise the flag.

This topic includes information related to flags and banners.  Flags and banners have graphic designs on fabric pieces that have symbolic meanings, identify or communicate to viewers.  They are commonly flown from poles in open air locations.

Historic Treatment of Wood Windows

This topic covers information related to the historic treatment of wood windows, that may occur during the life cycle of a structure. Older windows in a historical or architectural structure often have qualities that demand for preservation of such windows rather than replacement. Understanding what factors are involved and how to approach treatment of older, possibly significant windows, can be understood by referring to National Park Service Preservation Brief #09, "The Repair of Historic Wooden Windows." Treatment often includes evaluation, maintenance, stabilization, repair and weatherization.

Metal Screen Doors and Frames
