Colorful Custom Roof Projects

Tropical Sunset. Beaver Creek. Steely Green. These are just some of the personalized custom color roofing tiles that DaVinci Roofscapes® has created during the past several years. Because the company has the ability to custom create any roofing color or color blend, the options are limitless for builders, architects, roofers and homeowners who wish to create unique colors for their polymer DaVinci slate and shake roofing tiles.

“Show us a color on a scarf, a candle or a painting and we can replicate it for the roof,” says Ray Rosewall, CEO and president of DaVinci Roofscapes. “We can even match the color of your favorite pet’s fur, a bedspread or a paint sample. This ability to custom create precise colors for homes and businesses is just one of the reasons our products have gained so much in popularity during the past decade.”

Custom-Color Roof for Vintage Home

Homeowners Carol and Ray Knoff knew exactly what they wanted when they decided to replace the roof on their 111-year-old Queen Anne style home. They had previously found a 300-year-old roof tile from a historic home in Des Moines, and they wanted to replicate the red to gray roof coloring.

“We knew we’d need a top-quality roofing manufacturer to custom create the color for the slate tiles on our home so we started to research options,” says Carol Knoff. “All of our investigative work brought us to DaVinci Roofscapes. So, we loaded up the car with pavement samples and traveled from our home in Vinton, Iowa to their facility in Kansas City, Kansas to see if they could create what we needed.”

The Knoffs were not disappointed. “The DaVinci team was as excited as we were about the challenge of custom creating the color for our roof,” says Knoff. “They worked with us to develop a color combination of Midnight Gray and Cottage Red that really ‘pops’ and gives a positive first impression of our home while helping define the roof lines and architectural style.”

For the complex, multi-pitch roof areas of their home, the Knoffs selected Bellaforté Slate polymer tiles. A portion of the Knoff’s historical home features a three-story tower capped with an old-fashioned turret. DaVinci Multi-Width Slate was installed on the cone-shaped portion of the roof to both accent the turret and complement the single-width Bellaforté Slate used on the majority of the home.

Steely Green Roof Crowns Condo Community

Ask any condo resident at Jupiter Ocean Grande what they know about roofing and they’ll tell you this: salt laden air off the Atlantic Ocean is tough on a metal roof. The Jupiter, Florida residents discovered the hard way that the metal roofs on their high-rise homes and facility buildings started rusting and fading less than five years after installation.

Colorful Custom Roof Projects

To solve their roofing headaches, the homeowners association turned to polymer roofing tiles from DaVinci Roofscapes. Backed by a 50-year limited warranty, the impact-resistant tiles meet high wind velocity codes, making them ideal for this coastal community of three high rise condos, four cabana buildings, a guard house, a pool house and a tennis gazebo.

“The Bellaforté Slate product meets all our needs,” says Richard P. Eannarino, president of the Jupiter Ocean Grande homeowners association. “As a bonus, we needed a color match to our original metal roof since we won’t be able to complete all the reroofing work at the same time. DaVinci was able to create a color match for the steel green color of the original metal roof. This has turned out to be a win-win situation for our entire community.”

Selecting Nature-Inspired Colors

When Mike and Andrea Boone received a cancellation threat on their homeowner insurance policy, they knew it was time to take action. Their old wooden shake roof simply had to go.

After selecting the DaVinci polymer roofing product, the Boones next had to decide on the color of their new roof. “The wide assortment of color combinations was an important element in our decision to use the DaVinci product,” says Jerry Shaw, owner of Jerry Shaw Design in Arroyo Grande, California, who designed the home. “The ability to combine colors to achieve a custom color for this roof was a prime factor for us selecting this product.”

With 49 colors to choose from, the Boones created a personalized DaVinci Multi-Width Slate roof that features a blended combination of Slate Black and Slate Gray with highlight colors blended in of Light Green and Dark Green.

“We wanted a roof with some interest to it, not just one tedious color,” reports Dr. Mike Boone, a part-time resident of the coastal town of Cayucos, Calif. “Also, we needed a roof color combination that would not show sea salt spray or seagull poop. The subtleness of the colors we selected blended well together. We liked the blend of the roof colors so much that they inspired us to select exterior siding and accent colors to complement it.”

Colorful Roof Party

What does a homeowner do when he’s so happy with his colorful new Bellaforté roof that he wants to share it with family and friends? If that homeowner is Dan Baer, he throws a roof party!

“We hosted a party on our balcony to celebrate our new roof,” proclaims Baer, a homeowner in Yorba Linda, Calif. “I wanted everyone to reach out, touch this roof and see why we’re so excited. The DaVinci slate looks like authentic slate but it’s completely man-made. I’m thrilled with the quality of the product, the custom color we selected and the fire-resistancy of this polymer roof.”

Both strong and beautiful, the Bellaforté roofing tiles recently installed on the home are made of a custom color designed by Baer and his wife, Cynthia. “I selected colors to complement our overall home,” says Baer. “Our custom blend is a mix of light brown, medium brown, medium tan and dark amber. DaVinci used its VariBlend™ technology to create a continuous variation from tile to tile, which resulted in a beautiful, natural blend.”

VariBlend technology creates an infinite number of color shades in custom-color and standard color blends. Homeowners have the option of creating their own personalized color shades or may create a color blend from 49 existing standard colors of roofing tiles. The DaVinci Color Design Studio provides color guidance to homeowners seeking to personalize their roof.

Beaver Creek Blend on Town Homes

Roofing symmetry is one of the key goals for homes and buildings in the resort community of Beaver Creek, Colorado. A specific blend of green, tan and gray colors keeps a unified look to the area.

At Elk Track Town Homes of Beaver Creek, 16 units have been re-roofed using a custom blend of colors created by DaVinci Roofscapes. Named the “Beaver Creek Blend,” the durable polymer slate tiles were installed by the team at Arapahoe Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc.

Each of the town homes in the community sells for between two and five million dollars, so the investment of custom roofing colors is essential. One of the key reasons DaVinci polymer roofing tiles were selected for the Elk Track Town Homes projects was the company’s ability to custom match the colors of the tiles to the existing roofs in the community.

“Both the Design Review Board at Beaver Creek and the homeowners association for the town homes had to approve the product choice and the color before we could begin,” says Mark Belitt, owner and vice president of Arapahoe Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. out of Broomfield, Colorado. “There’s a standard six-blend ‘Beaver Creek style’ throughout the village area that DaVinci was able to match up perfectly.”

Historic Color Blend

When Irene Darocha relaxes in her West Chester, Pa. home, she’s not alone. History surrounds her. Built in 1860, her historic home sits on land deeded to the original property owner by William Penn.

“We’re really caretakers of this home,” says Darocha. “We’re just the fourth owners of this home in the last 150 years, so it’s a responsibility as well as a blessing. We live on land that was part of the first three counties established by William Penn in 1682.”

In 2012, Darocha selected DaVinci’s Valoré Slate polymer tiles to complement the historic look of the home. She chose to create a custom blend of colors for the roof, combining the Milano blend of dark purple plus light, medium and dark gray slate tiles with black tiles.

“I wanted the black added in to the roof so it would gain more attention,” says Darocha. “The unique mixture of the five color shades looks terrific and very historically accurate on the structure. I wanted those specific colors so they could complement the natural shading in the original serpentine stone exterior of the home that came from a local quarry 148 years ago when the original structure was built.”

Colorful Projects Coast-to-Coast

In addition to the projects listed above, the following projects are just some of those done in recent years that also had colorful custom polymer DaVinci roofs installed:

  • Bass Pro shop Fired Brick Red roof in Phoenix

  • Church of Realization Royal Blue shake roof in California

  • Home with Chateau Blue slate roof in New York
