One of the up-and-coming trends these days is the addition of faux beams to kitchen ceilings, providing the room with a warm, rustic country-type charm.

“I can’t say enough great things about how these stained urethane woodgrain beams look in our house,” says Utah homeowner Dion Barron. “They’re the perfect accent for our kitchen’s design.”

To complement her home, Barron selected lightweight faux beams from Fypon. “I used two colors of stain to finish the beams and make them look like real wood,” says Barron. “The second stain, a darker walnut, I used to accent knot holes with a dry brush. Visitors simply can’t believe they’re not 1,000-pound real wood beams!”

Fypon beams are available in both smooth white and woodgrain versions. With continuous beams running up to 20 feet long, the woodgrain versions are available in Cedar, Mesa and Tahoe styles that can be stained to resemble real wood. Each durable beam resists rot, decay, humidity and insects, making it the ideal low-maintenance product for the home.

Projects for the Kitchen

Fypon experts recommend these additional projects to upgrade the look of your kitchen:

Project 1 - Install lightweight faux beams to the ceiling of your kitchen to add dimension and style to the room.

Project 2 – To accent a ceiling fan or lighting fixture in the kitchen, install a two-piece Fypon ceiling medallion. The interlocking pieces fit snuggly together so you don't have to worry about dealing with the electrical systems.

Project 3 – If your home has an open space (about the size of a window opening) between the kitchen and the dining room or family room, add lightweight urethane shutters to flank the open area to enhance the room.

Project 4 – For a fast accent piece over a doorway or window in the kitchen, add a decorative millwork piece, such as a sunburst pediment or a keystone. The moisture-resistant urethane pieces can be painted or faux finished to complement your kitchen's decor.

Project 5 - Install corbels and appliqués to the top of cabinets to present a more finished look in your kitchen. And, upgrade the look of a boring kitchen island by adding decorative brackets or corbels as accent pieces.

Fypon pieces come pre-primed and ready for installation. All products need to be glued and nailed or screwed to the surface, then painted to your preference. To locate the closest Fypon dealer to you and learn more about Fypon products, visit http://www.fypon.com/dealerlocator/.
