PVC Column Wraps: Secret Weapon for Contractors

The unique semi-assembled, two-piece design of Fypon PVC Column Wraps come in a complete kit with the cap, base, installation cleats, and caulk adhesive. The external installation cleats – which never touch the center post --- make installation a breeze by making them easy to reach and providing flexibility in positioning. The low-maintenance PVC wrap goes around pressure-treated wood posts or steel to give a more finished look to an exterior column. The PVC pieces resist rotting or attracting insects, making them appealing for use in all areas of the country.

“One of the best aspects of this product is the free movement of the wrap around the post to create the best alignment of the columns in relation to each other and in alignment with a porch,” says Ohio contractor Steve Roth. “Even if the support structures are not exactly parallel to one another, this floating wrap allows me to perfectly line up the columns. And if the structural pressure-treated lumber posts happen to twist or warp over time, it’s not a problem because the column wrap is not affected.”

Roth, who has installed the PVC Column Wraps on several projects, believes that the effortless installation of each wrap can be completed in less than 15 minutes. “This is a fast out-of-the-box-and-onto-the-house installation,” says Roth. “After attaching the top and bottom cleat, the unit is screwed to the floor and ceiling. The whole process can be achieved in 15 minutes or less.”
